Goldenrod - Mushrooms - Sit Spot - August 13, 2020

Giant Goldenrod aka "Late Goldenrod".

I have no idea how it got the name "Late Goldenrod" as it is one of the earliest goldenrods to bloom. I missed seeing it for years as I looked late. Anyway, it is one of 17 goldenrods on our area of which I have only seen 3 so far this year. This one has fairly large flowers compared to most and a very smooth stem, sometimes with a pale white substance on it. And, one more time, none of the goldenrod cause allergies for more than 1 or 2% of the population. It's ragweed that is making you sneeze and making your eyes water. Ragweed started blooming last week.

They do not show up too well in this photo but these are some of the 46 white coloured mushrooms that appeared across on of our trails this morning. They were not here yesterday!
