-------------------------

As I look out while walking our trails,

there is a green haze from new leaves.

Leaves are out and getting larger on

Choke Cherries, Honeysuckles,

Manitoba Maples, Raspberries,

and Autumn Olives.

I am reminded of scenes from

the distant past i.e. my early school days.

Back then, in the early 50’s, at my one-room

country Kansas School, our school year

was finished at the end of April.

Yes, only 8 months of school.

The poor city kids had to go another month.

Anyway, my memory is of leaves

suddenly opening up along the trails

near the school much like they do now

in Ontario in early to mid-May creating

a new and welcome green-hued vista.
