Asclepias

The Asclepias are coming, the Asclepias are coming. Well, I guess they are here. There were four species of Asclepias in bloom last week.

Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)

Poke Milkweed (Asclepias exaltata)

Showy Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa)

Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa)

Beautiful series of shots of Asclepias! So nice to see a comparative series on their flowers.

Yes they are coming, and so are the Monarch butterflies, a few have been seen so far, but I am looking forward to many of them (not to mention nesting goldfinches)

Glad you liked the comparative series Bev. Since I posted, the Swamp Milkweed have started to bloom too but I don't have a photo yet as they were too far into the swamp for me.

Kerrdelune, We have had Monarch butterflies for a couple of weeks and there are many caterpillars now on our milkweeds.
