Jimsonweed Opening

Jimsonweed Opening

This Datura stramonium, or Jimsonweed is trumpet-shaped when all the way open but looks more interesting when opening or closing. I found this one in the Royal Botanical Gardens in the Burlington, Ontario section not far from the Rose Garden.

I've never seen that flower before...is it related to the Angel Trumpet?...or am I thinking of something else....been a long week and the brain is mush.
Great nature photos...I love it!

One plant called Angel's Trumpet is Datura innoxia. Several others going by the name of Angel's Trumpet are all in the Brugmansia genus. Both Brugmansia and Datura are in the Solanaceae family so yes the flowers are related. If they were humans they would probably be called cousins so, yes, related and in the same family grouping.
