I managed to get close to a Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa) this morning. He was very obliging in staying still for a good 5 minutes while I got closer and closer.

isn't that amazing? The one I rescued from the spider web was as accommodating!
Glad you could rescue it. I think dragonflies eat a lot more mosquitoes than spiders do.
