Hiroshima/Siesta

This Remix project was "inspired by the once customary practice of painting white outlines of people lying on the ground to commemorate the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, in August 1945.
These white outlines, or "shadows," symbolized how many of the bomb victims were vaporized leaving little traces of themselves.
The shadows also represent people asleep. Hiroshima/Siesta is about remembering the disasters that human beings inflict on one another. The piece is about sleep, and about the hope that we discover in our dreams."

The work was done on March 25, 2009 in front of the cafeteria at Cienfuegos University in Cienfuegos, Cuba.

wow...a very brilliant idea...From the statement "These white outlines, or "shadows," symbolized how many of the bomb victims were vaporized leaving little traces of themselves." I like the symbolization that is brought in the painting. Hopefully there won't be any war that can cause infliction fo many people.
This is a very great social action. I hope, with this action everyone can take the wisdom behind every accident that tool the lives of someone. I really support them. I also wish that there will be more and more people who aware about the importance of this social action.
Knowing that young people do this noble action to remembering the tragedy in human kind is very touching. Now, we knew that there’s still sense of caring and loving for each other. God bless you….
